60th Anniversary of Amaroo Park [NSW]

28 February 2027 at 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Next year we will commemorate 60 years since the first race meetings on the main circuit at Amaroo Park with a special anniversary celebration on Sunday, 28 February 2027.

The 250-acre venue had hosted hillclimbs, scrambles and dirt circuit events for some years before making the leap to bitumen racing with its first motorcycle meeting on 26 February 1967, followed by the inaugural car meeting on 12 March 1967.

Under the stewardship of the ARDC, Amaroo Park quickly became one of Australia’s best-known circuits, regularly appearing on television and helping shape generations of Australian motorsport.

The 60th anniversary event will bring Amaroo Park’s rich history back to life with a display of period race cars and motorcycles, appearances by former competitors, and the fascinating story of its development. Activities will be centred around the redeveloped buildings at the circuit’s original top entrance and will feature presentations, interviews, historic films and displays highlighting the often-overlooked story of Amaroo Park. Veteran motorsport author/journalist/broadcaster John Smailes will host the day’s proceedings.

If you were involved in the early days from 1967 through the ’70s, we would love to see you there – especially if you still have one of the cars or bikes that competed.  Contact us via the form on our website: contact us.
