The Foundation is dedicated to maintaining a comprehensive archive and library of materials about Australia’s motor heritage for the benefit of all Australians through preservation, education and research.  We’re proud of our past and passionate about our future.   

In a few short years, the AMHF has established a substantial archive and library of more than 4,700 books, thousands of ‘primary resource items’ including promotional releases, brochures, race programs and results, contemporary media reviews, photographs, film, oral history, as well as about 14,000 magazines. 

Our archive and library tell the story of how Australia fell in love with motoring in all its shapes and sizes, the development of our own motor and aviation industries, celebrates the vehicles we produced, the incredible people who designed and built them, and much more. 

Curated and managed solely by volunteers, including our board, the AMHF is a registered charity, with Deductible Gift Recipient status for the Library. This means gifts to our library over $2 are tax deductible.  

The funds you donate are used solely to support the Foundation – to enhance and preserve our archive and library, to develop educational materials and facilitate research, to host seminars and encourage discussion, and to maintain our facilities at Sydney Motorsport Park.   

We also invite you to volunteer your time – sorting, collating and organising our extensive archive – while at the same time benefiting from access to a pretty special collection and an opportunity to discuss all things motoring with like-minded enthusiasts. 

As a charity, and with your valuable contribution, the Foundation can continue to preserve and promote Australia’s motor heritage – for the benefit of all Australians.
