About Brian Goulding
One of Brian Goulding’s earliest memories is standing on the balcony of the family home watching traffic drive past playing ‘Name That Car’. In primary school Brian searched every school library, every council library and every bookshop he could find for motoring books – before starting his own motoring library at the age of 12.
In 1955, Brian went to his first car race meeting by steam train at Mount Druitt. and from 1965 he attended race meetings at the tracks at Oran Park, Warwick Farm, Catalina and Amaroo Park.
While working as internal auditor at the Caltex oil refinery, Brian made some suggestions about Caltex’s sponsorship of Colin Bond’s race team. Subsequently, Brian was drafted into the marketing department to look after team promotion and hospitality, and from 1988 he co-ordinated Caltex hospitality for staff and dealers at race circuits all around Australia.
After joining the Australian Racing Drivers Club in 1991 he worked as Race Secretary at their events including the Bathurst 1000, A1GP and Australian V8 Supercar Championship. Retiring in 2014, Brian is now an honorary member of the ARDC.
