Last month, the Foundation was fortunate to borrow a large number of Victorian
hillclimb results from the Gippsland Car Club for scanning. The Morwell hillclimb
(later known as Gippsland Park) operated between 1965 and 2008. We now have
240 additional Official Results in our “Results” collection, including many Victorian
and Australian Championship events.

Some may be unaware that a resumption of land by Yallourn Energy in 2008 meant
the closure of Morwell. However, the construction and smooth transition to a new
facility nearby, which was named Bryant Park, is a major step forward. Three
generations of the Bryant family are still heavily involved with the Gippsland Car Club
and describe the new facility as “similar, but twice as wide and twice as long”.
You may have seen Bryant Park used for TV commercials and road tests. It can be
used in various formats, but I can recommend the 1.75km clockwise version. See
layouts of the old and new venues below.

The AMHF database of hillclimb results now stands at more than 1,600 events.
There are a few more collections on the way for us to scan, but still many gaps to fill.
