By Hugh King (Chairman, AMHF)
Our first AMHF Ambassador, Paul Barratt AO, has passed away at age 77 in a nursing home in Armidale NSW. ABC News marked his life in the public service today.
Paul’s contribution to the establishment of our Foundation in its very earliest stages was decisive. He was our Chairman, Hugh King’s friend and supporter from the age of 10 years when they were at school together. During 2004-5 when Hugh was pondering the future of his own collection, post retirement, and then constantly afterwards, he encouraged Hugh in the direction that we have taken and assisted with great advice.
When Hugh last saw him in June this year, Paul wanted still to contribute, and applauded the way in which the AMHF will contribute to the social cohesion objectives and to interests in the Indo-Pacific. He is greatly missed.
